Navigating through the complexities of hosting an outdoor event can be overwhelming, however with Summer fast approaching, we are here to gear you with our best weather tips.

As they say the show must go on… – Rain, Hail or Shine!

Weather Contingency Plans -

Mother Nature is always extremely unpredictable, and you will need to be prepared for any curveballs she throws at you with a weather contingency plan. Regardless of the warmer months there is no guarantee (especially due to La Nino) so the plan identifies the actions to be taken in the event of severe weather preventing disappointing and costly experiences. Also staying up-to-date with local weather forecasts and clear communication between all vendors is also a necessity.

Marquees, Boho Tents & Gazebos -

All marquees are waterproof with various different walling solutions preventing rain seeping through and causing havoc on your special event day! Not only do they keep you dry, but they are also protection against strong winds. We have strong connections in the industry with marquee suppliers that we hold strong partnerships with and will be able to assist with any requests you have!

Rugs/Carpets are a perfect addition that add to the ambience of the event space, whilst also being extremely functional, preventing your guests from slipping in the mud during unexpected rainfall. Our Geometric Jute Handwoven Rugs in particularly are great for floor protection due to their size!

For shade protection our Boho Tents are a luxurious shade option that are lightweight and use breathable fabrics allowing airflow. With the right rigging – Festoon Lights are a fantastic addition to add to the vibrant atmosphere for early evenings.

Our stylist also recommends adding our Pallet Tables, small Décor Items, various mix matched Pillows as well as various Tapper Candles for a stunning garden soiree vibe. Some of our most favourable picnic affairs revolved around earthy tones for greens and whites transporting guests into a tranquil setting.

Umbrellas -

Skin protection is essential when particularly living in Australia, so umbrellas are a crucial component for all outdoor events. Not only do they provide shade ensuring positive guests experiences, but they also add flair and are great for memorable photo opportunities.

Heating & Cooling -

Australian weather can be unpredictable to say the least so it’s essential to have a backup plan with cooling or heating stations. For the hotter months we recommend having ample water displayed on either of our Bar Carts or in our various Ice Buckets. In the cooler months, Gas Heaters ensure comfort of guests allowing them to mingle for extended periods outdoors.

Outdoor Furniture

When holding an outdoor event, you are at the mercy of the Australian weather, which is unpredictable to say the least! The difference between outdoor and indoor furniture is the durability in materials used. Majority of our outdoor furniture is made of metal, teak and wicker. Our stylists like to recommend using a combination of lounge settings, cocktail, and dinnerware options for an ultimate guest experience. We also love to play around with different tones and themes, embracing the natural aesthetic. For outdoor ceremonies our Block Benches are perfect for seating more attendees.

Lighting -

Don’t leave your guests in the dark, all you need is ambient lighting options that play a critical role in creating a whimsical / romantic atmosphere! From twinkling fairy lights to dramatic glow balls (that are so special as a water feature), our team is able to style and provide lighting solutions that will set the scene for your event. In a particular event we assisted with, our fairy lights casted above, twinkled for an intimate soiree, casting a warm and ethereal glow for guests. The twinkling light installation was created in the shape of a tunnel generating a cozy atmosphere. The tunnel seems to come alive with a magical ambiance, as if it were a secret passage to a fairytale realm!

Outdoor Catering -

Catering for outdoor events create amazing culinary experiences for guests. The open catering / cooking experience is all dependent on your curated menu and seasonality of your event. Please keep in consideration, what time of year when what ingredients and food options are being used. For example, if the weather is warmer try to avoid options like raw bars or poke bowls that might not do well in the hot sun.

Another great catering option is food trucks, and our favourite is Bar Positano which serves up not only an electric atmosphere but delicious Italian recipes that will ensure to have your guests’ tongues wagging!

Also taking into consideration the safetiness of glass and the atmosphere. If you are around a pool, it would be a great idea to consider our Polycarbonate range of glassware.
